Sandeep Jatwa’s debut novel Second Chance comes with a packed stuff – it has the pinch that readers often need to satisfy their reading urge. I will be reviewing this novel today. To begin with, the task, let us quickly get a summary of the book’s story. The story, in a nutshell, might be culminated like this: there is a guy named Shekhar. He is rich and does not care about anything else. His habit often lands him in trouble but he does not bother. One day, he is dead! He meets an accident and kills himself. What happens after that? Well, the novel’s title, as it goes, is Second Chance, and you can make assumptions what might transpire thereafter. I will not reveal much because I do not want to kill the reading pleasure. One more thing, there is a strange entity in the novel – the city of justice! You can call it a mixture of supernatural, fantasy, science fiction, mythology and so many other things. The good thing about it is that Sandeep has played this card very well and it adds even better colours to the novel!

The book bases itself upon the theory of Karma, to an extent, and the author also believes in the same. Sandeep Jatwa comes from a background which is rather sophisticated and that’s why he has kept himself busy in writings. Second Chance is all about some fantasy fused with some realism and a moral message which the author tries to deliver through his narrative, which, by all means, is splendid and beautiful. The theme that Sandeep has selected for his second but the first published novel is also no less than excellent. He has rather decided to write about a good way to lead the life than the usual narratives where a failed photographer falls in lusty love with another failed – a model! Therefore, I will always rate it high because the author is presenting an alternate way to begin the career and he dares to go beyond the lines of walk steps.

The life of Shekhar is an example for the people who take their life casually and go on offending others. Shekhar and all others who are on the same track, must understand that life is precious and it is strictly not meant to harm others. This is the message that Sandeep Jatwa wants to deliver in an implicit way. And guys, good thing is that Shekhar gets his ‘second chance’ to come back to life once again. How does he use this opportunity? Does Shekhar stay on the usual bully track or he changes himself for better? There are many questions that only reading the novel can answer you.
